Women in the Church
WIC at Zion Reformed Church exists for God’s glory, for the proclamation of the gospel, and for the effectiveness of His body, the church.
“The purpose of Women in the Church is that every woman know Christ personally and be committed to extending His kingdom in her life, home, church, community, and throughout the world.”
Women’s ministry at Zion is divided into three areas: spiritual growth, special events, and practical ministries of compassion.
Spiritual Growth
The first priority for WIC is to get women into God’s word, to discover what it means to be a Biblical woman, and to begin to think biblically and allow God’s Word to direct all aspects of our lives. We work toward this goal through (1) women’s Bible studies, (2) women’s participation in Sunday school, and (3) ministry to teen girls. Please contact the church for current Bible study times and locations.
Special Events
Throughout the year there are various special events planned by WIC. “Covenant Women,” one of the regularly scheduled special events, is a periodic Sunday evening dinner held in a home—a time for women to fellowship together over dinner, be encouraged by time together in the Word of God, and give input and feedback regarding WIC activities. Other special events are planned as the year progresses.
Practical Ministries of Compassion
As we serve God’s people in physical ways, we are following Christ’s example of servanthood and fulfilling our “helper” design as women in Christ’s church. Our Hospitality Team is composed of women who volunteer for a year at a time to serve in the kitchen for potlucks, funerals, and soup dinners. When someone is sick or has a new baby, meals are provided by women of the church. We also have a visiting ministry which pairs up women to visit members of our congregation who are shut in.
